The Hauntings Part I and II THE HAUNTINGS The beginning of it all... It was Halloween of 1998 and THE HAUNTINGS was unleashed onto the internet. Like the Frankenstein monster, it was pieced together digitally, byte by byte. It was one of the first choose your own adventures in the form of a haunted world called Salems Marsh and my first attempt at building a website. After more than two decades The Hauntings are still very much alive and well residing inside Frightbytes.com domain. In 1998 everyone was making websites. We learned basic HTML coding and collected MIDI music files to add to our pages, along with many HORRENDOUS .gifs spinning and flashing endlessly. I look back at those days fondly and still prefer the retro look and style of that day and I continue to keep my website that way. Unlike the later stories that focus on character building, The Hauntings I and II make YOU the star. These two stories twist and turn you around in a written maze. Your decisions determine your fate through page after page of different paths to take, and decisions to make. You never know what horrible thing awaits you with each choice.
